Erik Jones who started in 2nd in the outside lane led the opening lap.
On lap 2, Kevin Harvick who won the pole resumed the lead and led the next 11 laps.

Big Moment: On lap 9, Chase Elliott who was running in 12th got into the wall hard. His car had a lot of damage and it led to his 32nd place finish.
During the Chase Elliott caution restart, Erik Jones led the first two laps. Then Kevin Harvick took solid command of the lead and led the next 31 laps.
On lap 15 a caution came out for debris. Kevin Harvick stayed out, but quite a few of the other front runners including Erik Jones came to pit road for fuel.

Big Moment: On lap 43, Corey LaJoie got into the wall and it brought out a caution. His car had a lot of damage. He was running in the 30’s at the time. He went on to finish 38th.
- During the LaJoie caution the front runners who didn’t pit earlier had to come in. Then the drivers who pitted earlier stayed out.

Big Moment: On lap 53, Brad Keselowski and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. wrecked. They were running in 11th and 13th at the time. This destroyed both of their cars. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. in a post wreck interview really liked his car.
