Michigan Race Notes
Brad Keselowski who won the pole selected to start in the outside line. He led the opening 39 laps.
Martin Truex Jr. who started in the rear of the field was up to 16th on lap 6. The garage area from Saturday before the race thought he had the best car in traffic.

Big Moment: On lap 15 while running in 10th, Jimmie Johnson slowed on the track after having contact with the wall. He had a flat tire and then came to pit road. He had heavy right side damage. He was 2 laps down following repair. A little bit later, Johnson came back to pit road for another unexpected pit stop.
Denny Hamlin’s car looked good. He was up to 6th on lap 21. At that time, his car was said to be one of the fastest on the track.
Martin Truex Jr. was up to 7th on lap 30.

Notable Moment: While running in 2nd on lap 32, Kevin Harvick made an unexpected pit stop because of a flat tire. It was shortly before the planned pit cycle so it didn’t hurt him too much.
On lap 40, Denny Hamlin passed Brad Keselowski for the lead.

Around lap 44, the normal green flag pit cycle started. Strategy was over all other map at this time.
Kyle Larson got a speeding penalty during the opening green flag pit cycle.

Late in Stage #2, green flag pit stops ensued. Lots of pit strategy took place at this time.
Big Moment: On lap 116, Brad Keselowski who was running in the top five had a flat tire and spun.

Big Moment: Coming to the finish line of Stage #2, Austin Dillon and Aric Almirola had trouble. Almirola had a good amount of damage to his car and Austin Dillon spun out and didn’t appear to have any real notable damage. Dillon was running in 10th just before this problem, and Aric Almirola was running in 13th.
