Lowes Fantasy NASCAR picks
Jimmie Johnson
I know it’s probably a big let down to hear that Jimmie Johnson is my pick of the week for Lowes. Most fantasy racers like to think outside the box and picking Jimmie Johnson is anything but that. If however you’re playing in an advanced league with seasoned fantasy racers then they might very well avoid Johnson. Johnson hasn’t won here since 2005 and since then his average finish is around 16th. I think these recent facts might make people think twice about picking Johnson.
Why will Jimmie Johnson win?
- He’s always near the front. Johnson has the best average start in the series (6.7), best average running place mid race (5.8), best average finish (9.8), and of course he also has the best average running position in the series (7.0).
- No team is hotter right now. The only team that can beat Johnson in the Chase is himself, and of course this hasn’t happened since 2005.
- Not only does Johnson always run near the front of the track but he also passes a lot of cars. Johnson has the best passing ratio at Lowes having passed 145 cars more than he’s been passed. Johnson also has the most quality passes in NASCAR at Lowes
- The reason Johnson wins so many races at Lowes is because he’s fast. Johnson races 90.3% of the laps run at Lowes in the top 15.
- Johnson’s driver rating is the highest in the series at 116.6 which is nearly 12 points better than his closest challenger.
- This is Johnson’s house and he wants it back.
(The stats quoted from this section are based on the last 9 races and only drivers who have raced two or more races are included)
Are you wondering who the other experts are picking for Lowes?
Mr. Need a sleeper-” Matt Kenseth” – I’m not really sure if you can truly think of him as a sleeper or not, but at this point in the season fantasy racers and fans are now focused on the Chase and I believe Matt Kenseth will be a quality pick who will slip below the radar.
Mr. Need a super sleeper- “Sam Hornish Jr” – He’s been pretty good at intermediates tracks lately and if for whatever reason you need to dig deep to make a pick, Hornish should be your guy.
Mr. Think outside the box- “Kevin Harvick” – Harvick had the winning car at Atlanta but his unfortunately his car was bad in the short runs. If the race would of went green then Harvick would have won.
Mr. Want to lead my friend astray this weekend- “Ryan Newman” – Sell your friend on how Ryan Newman is such a good qualifier at Lowes and remind him how Optimus prime always wins 🙂
