Martinsville Fantasy Race Picks
Jimmie Johnson
If you thought Lowes was Jimmie Johnson’s house then you must have never seen his Martinsville stats. Jimmie Johnson absolutely owns this track.
Reasons why I’m picking Jimmie Johnson
- He’s won every COT race at Martinsville except one
- His career average finish is 15 races is 5.3
- Only once in Jimmie Johnson’s career has he failed to finish in the top 10
- The only time Jimmie Johnson didn’t finish in the top 10 was his first career start at Martinsville. When you take away his first career start then his average finish is 2.86 (over fourteen races).
- Johnson is in Chase championship mode and there’s no denying him a win here.
- Picking Johnson is not only the smart thing to do but everyone is going to be doing it this weekend. In fantasy racing there isn’t anything wrong with matching up picks with other people in your league.
Mr. Obvious but not to obvious: Jeff Gordon – Before Jimmie Johnson owned this track Jeff Gordon was the man here. If qualifying is important in your league then Jeff Gordon might just be your guy because he has 7 career poles here.
Mr. Want to pick a guy outside the Chase: Dale Earnhardt Jr– He’s having a really bad year but his short track program is still solid.
Mr. Play it safe but don’t use the big guys up: Denny Hamlin– My Denny Hamlin fantasy rule of thumb is if the track is either flat or short use him. Also when you look at the up coming schedule the last remaining race I would recommend using Hamlin is Phoenix. Use him if you have him.
Mr. Think Outside the box: Marcos Ambrose– Ambrose is most well known for his ability on the road courses but he also is fundamentally strong when it comes to short tracks.
Mr. Need a sleeper: Clint Bowyer– When you hear the name Bowyer the term sleeper probably doesn’t come to your mind. Bowyer is just a tad below the main guys here but I don’t foresee Bowyer getting a lot of attention this weekend.
Also just so you know I do a weekly NASCAR expert pick at Onpitrow.com where you can follow my weekly picks. Currently I’m #1 so you can always trust my picks. Also just so you know I don’t pick Jimmie Johnson all the time. Up until last week the last previous race I picked Johnson to win was back in July.
