Turn 1
At Richmond Denny Hamlin defeated Kurt Busch and advanced to the DirectTV Fastest 4. Kurt Busch struggled for the majority of the race and so did Denny Hamlin. Neither driver was ever a contender in the race. I think Denny Hamlin is positioned as the favorite for this tournament at Darlington because of his previous success at the track.
Turn 2
In the Turn 2 region Martin “Cinderella” Treux Jr. continued to roll on. He finished 7th and Mark Martin finished an uncharacteristic 25th at Richmond. In four starts at Darlington Martin Treux Jr. has the seventh best average finish (11.3).
Turn 3
The Turn 3 region of the bracket was by far the most compelling match up at Richmond. Harvick finished 3rd and Montoya finished 6th. Among the Fastest Four drivers left Kevin Harvick is my pick to win. I know his Darlington record isn’t stellar but Harvick knows how to get on the wheel when the moneys on the line.
Turn 4
In the Turn 4 Region at Richmond Clint Bowyer finished 12th and will advance to the Fastest 4 at Darlington. Kasey Kahne really had nothing going for him on Saturday night and finished 21st. Clint Bowyer is perhaps the most talented downplayed driver in NASCAR. People never give him a chance and won’t do so at Darlington.
