Practice Breakdown: Kansas 2 – Hollywood Casino 400 (Chase Race #4)
The schedule this weekend is one that I really like: there was a practice session held on Friday afternoon, and that was followed by qualifying. On Saturday afternoon, two additional NASCAR had to additional practice sessions for the teams to perfect their race cars for the race on Sunday. By having data from practices that occurred after qualifying, we don’t have to guess whether or not the averages times were skewed by qualifying runs: all cars were in race trim for both practice sessions on Saturday. In the average speed chart at the bottom of this article, I have excluded the speeds that the cars ran during Friday’s practice. Greg Biffle beat out his team-mate, Carl Edwards, in qualifying for the eight pole of his career. The full starting lineup for Sunday’s Hollywood Casino 400 can be found by clicking here.
PLEASE READ: In case you haven’t noticed (click here for the article), it’s time where ifantasyrace.com is evaluating what things to keep and what things to get rid of for the 2012 season. Views are good for hard statistics, but it is important to help us out here and spread the word about this website if you like what you read. I personally am not going to waste my time putting up Practice Breakdowns or Predictions if no one cares about them. So spread the word, post some comments, and let us know you appreciate the time we put into ifantasyrace.com. Thank you — Jordan

AVERAGE PRACTICE SPEEDS:
Average practice speeds are calculated by taking the average speed of each driver in each practice and multiplying it by the number of laps ran. When you do this for each practice and add the totals together, and then divide by the total number of laps ran, you get an average of their practice speed, instead of just the one lap statistic you see when you look at practice sheets. The order that they are in is the overall average speeds rank of the two practice session that were held on Saturday combined. The practice speeds from the Friday practice have been excluded from these calculations.
