The future of Red Bull Racing?
There’s only four races left in the season and yet there’s no word about what will happen to Red Bull Racing at the end of the season. The conventional thinking is that either they will get bought or they’ll close down.
I don’t think Red Bull Racing is going anywhere though. I don’t have a crystal ball (do have a Facebook page though) but I do see a vital place for those two cars. I have my tin foil hat on and I think we’ll see a surprise purchaser involved in the transaction of the 4 and 83 team.
I think a possible surprise buyer might be…. Dale Earnhardt Jr. Junior has a new driver who’ll race next year and she needs a seat. You don’t think making Danica Patrick qualifying on time is really an option do you?
What I see happening is….
1) Dale Earnhardt Jr. purchasing Red Bull Racing and officially bringing JR Motorsports to the top series.
2) Red Bull dropping sponsorship. I don’t think AMP will want him being affiliated with another energy drink.
3) I really don’t think JR Motorsports is equipped to handle a cup team, so they’ll merge with Stewart Haas Racing establishing a new four car team. This will also help Stewart Haas Racing in their attempt to attract new sponsors.
4) JR Motorsports will then sign Brian Vickers and Mark Martin. Mark Martin will only run a partial season and split time with Danica keeping her in a favorable points situation. I see Go Daddy sponsoring the Martin / Patrick duo but Vickers could be on shaky ground for sponsorship.
Do you have any theories about what will happen?
