Drivers Who You Don’t Want To Pick In The Homestead-Miami Ford 400
Dale Earnhardt Jr. – Since 2002 Dale Earnhardt Jr. hasn’t finished better than 19th at Homestead. If you pick him your messing with fire and will get burned. He’s had some good performances on intermediate tracks this season but it seems like when he arrives here he’s on vacation. In the COT he has an average finish of 32nd and a lowly driver rating of 59.5 (26th worst in the series)

Joey Logano – Logano’s only raced twice in the Ford 400 and he’s finished 24th and 29th. What really bugs me about Logano is what he did last year —> (Joey Logano Wrecks Juan Pablo Montoya Under Yellow). Logano’s only finished in the top fifteen once in the last six intermediate track races this season so clearly this type of track has been a struggle for the 20 crew. JGR engines are also once again a concern. Kyle Busch lost a motor at Phoenix and Logano lost one at Texas.
Paul Menard – After a driver has raced at a track a certain number of races “they are what their average finish is”. Menard has five races under his belt at Homestead and his average finish is 25.4. His best finish is 17th and in three out of his five races he’s finished 26th or worse.
Jamie McMurray – McMurray has a few good finishes at Homestead but I’m staying away from him this week. The main reason why I can’t pick him is because I’ve watched him all season long. I’ve seen this movie before and I don’t like the results. On high speed intermediate tracks this season (excludes Dover and Darlington) his best finish is 16th. What else do you need to know about him?
Regan Smith – I think Smith will be a solid 20th place driver in the Ford 400. At the end of the season drivers emotions come into play and luckily no one is mad at Regan Smith. Last year he started 10th and finished 17th.
Brian Vickers – Vickers best finish at Homestead came in his first full-time season at the Cup level. Unfortunately a best finish of 18th in 2004 doesn’t hold any fantasy value. Since Loop Data started getting recorded in 2005 Vickers has an average finish of 31st and an average running position of 31.6. To put this in perspective Robby Gordon has a average finish of 28.8 and an average running position of 29.2. Even JJ Yeley has a better average finish (29.7)
