Talladega Aaron’s 499: Fantasy NASCAR “Top Tier Elite” Picks
Kevin Harvick – Last fall at Talladega Kevin Harvick had a good car but he was involved in a wreck. In the three previous races he finished 5th, 2nd and 1st. RCR has an elite plate racing program and Harvick is the best driver in the organization. If you need a default pick on plate tracks there is no one better than Harvick. (Yahoo! A Driver)
Clint Bowyer – In the last three Talladega races Clint Bowyer has finished first, second and first. You can’t argue against results like that. He has a proven track record at Talladega and he knows how to position himself in the closing laps. Last fall he pulled off a last lap pass on his former teammate Jeff Burton for the win. (Yahoo! Jimmie Johnson – Johnson is the defending champion of the Talladega Aaron’s 499. Since 2006 he has the best average finish (12.7) and the best average starting position (11.4). Lots of drivers have difficulties at this wild card track but in the last twelve races he’s only finished outside the top fifteen four times. In the last five Talladega races Johnson has qualified 1st, 1st, 19th, 2nd and 2nd. The two attributes I like in a driver at plate tracks are momentum (has avoided bad finishes lately) and a good track history. Johnson is excelling in both of those attributes. (Yahoo! A Driver)

Brad Keselowski – In six races at Talladega Keselowski has one win and four top ten finishes. In the two races he didn’t finish in the top ten he was swept up in accidents. So he’s either a top ten driver or bust. Keselowski is a natural at Talladega and I think it’s likely he’ll be in the mix at the end. Last fall Keselowski finished 4th. (Yahoo! A Driver)
