Talladega Aaron’s 499: Fantasy NASCAR “Back Runners”
Michael Waltrip – Mark Martin doesn’t Talladega and as a result we’ll be seeing Michael Waltrip in the #55. In the early 2000’s when DEI was the king of restrictor plate racing Waltrip won 4 races on this track type. Last year at Talladega Waltrip competed in both races. In the spring race he finished 28th and in the fall he finished 9th. If you’re in an allocation league like Yahoo! he might just be worth a look. (Yahoo! C Driver)

AJ Allmendinger – Out of all the drivers who I rank on a weekly basis AJ Allmendinger has the worst average finish (27.3). Last spring AJ finished 11th but that’s his best finish by quite a margin. His next best finish is 19th and in his five other races he finished 3oth or worse. This year at Daytona AJ was involved in an accident on pit road and he wound up finishing 34th. (Yahoo! B Driver)
Marcos Ambrose – Ambrose finished 4th in his first race at Talledega. Unfortunately in his next five races he finished 34th, 37th, 34th, 32nd and 19th. Those numbers indicate a lot of accidents. I don’t want any of those in the Aaron’s 499. That’s why I would recommend looking elsewhere at Dega. (Yahoo! B Driver)
Aric Almirola – At Talladega Almirola has a best finish of 14th and an average finish of 24th (has competed in 4 races). In the last six races run at Dega Almirola has only competed in one of them. His finish in that race was 20th. At Daytona this year Almriola was involved in an accident and finished 33rd. (Yahoo! C Driver)
Bobby Labonte – Labonte has finished 20th or worse in the last seven spring races at Talladega. That’s a trend you really can’t spin in a positive manner. Labonte has snuck in a couple top tens in semi recent fall races though. He finished in the top ten in 2009 and 2008. This year in the Daytona 500 Labonte finished 14th. (Yahoo! C Driver)
