Michigan Quicken Loans 400: Warning Alerts Following Final Practice
Red Alert Drivers:
Marcos Ambrose – The pole sitter is not happy with his car. Some words on the practice telecast that were used to describe his car were “Wicked Loose, So Lost, Touchy, Nervous, Wobbly”. None of these words are a positive thing heading into Sunday.
Also don’t forget what I said about him earlier in the week. He was my #1 driver to avoid and I meant it. Here’s what I said as a refresher “Before I talk about Marcos Ambrose in depth it’s important I give out this general warning about him. For whatever reason 2.0 mile tracks are a continual struggle for him. At Michigan his average finish is 27th and his best finish is 15th. Last year he finished 27th and 23rd. Amazingly his track record is even worse at Michigan’s sister track (Auto Club). At California his average finish is 27.7 and he’s never finished in the top twenty. Ambrose has good performances from time to time on 1.5 mile tracks but I urge you to ignore those finishes. For him simply focus on his 2.0 mile performances”.
Orange Alert Drivers
Kyle Busch – Kyle Busch was not happy with his car. During practice they were putting a new setup in the #18 Toyota. The balance of the car was described as “bad”. Kyle Busch is also starting deep in the field (34th) and I theorize it will be difficult to pass tomorrow.
