New Hampshire LENOX Industrial Tools 301: Fantasy NASCAR Top Tier Elite Deadline Analysis
Denny Hamlin
What I said about him earlier this week:
My long running fantasy advice about Denny Hamlin is “if it’s short or flat pick Hamlin”. “The Magic Mile” fits both of those specifications to a tee. In twelve races at Loudon Hamlin has 1 win and 8 top ten finishes. His 9th place average finish is the best in the series. Last September Denny Hamlin had his worst race at this 1 mile venue. With two laps remaining he was running in sixth but ran out of fuel (finished 29th). Before that race Hamlin never finished worse than 15th. In the 2011 summer race he finished 3rd. Since 2006 Hamlin has the 4th best driver rating (98.1) and the 5th best average running position ( 11.4). Perhaps the most interesting statistic about him at Loudon is that he’s only led 74 laps. This season on the three tracks that could be described as similar he has 1 win (Phoenix) and a 3.7 average finish.
Starting Position:
3rd
Practice 10 Lap Average Rankings:
Practice #2: 1st (130.172 MPH)
Happy Hour: 1st (130.290 MPH)
Chassis Selection:
Joe Gibbs Racing doesn’t report chassis selections
Pit Stall Location:
Denny Hamlin is pitting in pit box #31. He has a clear entrance into his pit stall and Landon Cassill is pitting in front of him.
What to expect / Areas of concern:
Denny Hamlin had the fastest 10 lap average in both practice sessions today. Based off what we’ve seen from him this weekend and his track history I think he’s the driver to beat. One slight concern is that his crew chief Darian Grubb missed both practice sessions.
