Indianapolis Curtiss Shaver 400 at the Brickyard Fantasy NASCAR Top Tier Elite Deadline Analysis
Jimmie Johnson
What I said about him earlier this week:
Jimmie Johnson is either a hero or a zero at Indy. He has three wins and three finishes of 36th or worse. His middle ground finishes are 9th, 18th, 22nd and 19th. Even though he’ll be a favorite to win it’s just to risky to pick him. Jimmie Johnson is a good qualifier at Indy. In the last four Brickyard 400′s he’s qualified 3rd, 2nd, 16th and 1st. At Pocono Jimmie Johnson had a car that was capable of winning but he had multiple pit road speeding penalties. Johnson will be tough to beat but you can’t overlook his track history.
Starting Position:
6th
Average Speed Rank
4th (Average Speed Rank Chart)
Chassis Selection:
Jimmie Johnson is driving the chassis that he won with at Dover.
Pit Stall Location:
Jimmie Johnson is pitting in pit box #16. He has a clear entrance into his pit box and likely start and parker David Stremme is pitting in front of him.
What to expect / Areas of concern:
I think Johnson will be the driver to beat at Indy. He was fast on the average speed chart and he’s starting near the front. His Indy track history is so-so but he’s won half the races in the last six years. The risk is there but I wouldn’t hesitate to pick him.

Greg Biffle
What I said about him earlier this week:
Greg Biffle has a streak of four straight top 8 finishes at Indy. This feat is matched by no other. In these four races he has the fourth best driver rating (104.5), the third best average running position (8.8) and the best average finish (5.5). Last season Biffle finished 7th but his performance was that of a mid pack projected driver. His average running position was 16th and he didn’t even run in the top fifteen for half the race. This season at Pocono (similar track) Biffle had a fast car. He led 19 laps but had motor problems about two-thirds through the race.
Starting Position:
5th
Average Speed Rank
1st (Average Speed Rank Chart)
Chassis Selection:
Greg Biffle will be piloting a new chassis in the Indianapolis Curtiss Shaver 400.
Pit Stall Location:
Greg Biffle is pitting in pit box #2. Kyle Busch is pitting behind him and Denny Hamlin is pitting in front of him. The logic behind selecting this pit box is confusing because all three of these drivers should be competitive.
What to expect / Areas of concern:
Biffle was good in practice, he’s starting near the front and his recent Indy track record is impeccable. What’s not to like?
