Pocono Pennsylvania 400: Fantasy NASCAR “Front Runner” Rankings
Mark Martin – Earlier this year Mark Martin was one slight bump away from his first win at Pocono. He’s been a bridesmaid finisher 6 times here. Martin’s car was strong for the duration of the race in June. He started in 6th, had an average running position of 6th and ran in the top fifteen for 96.9% percent of the race. Martin’s first race at Pocono was in 1982 and in his 51 races he’s finished in the top ten 34 times. I don’t see Martin competing for the win again but I predict he’ll challenge for a top ten in the Pennsylvania 400. (Yahoo! B Driver)

Kevin Harvick – Harvick has the 4th best average finish at Pocono since 2005 (10.3). Earlier this year he started in 21st and drove up to about 13th in about 40 laps. Then during the first round of pit stops he was one of the drivers who was penalized for speeding on pit road. This was a minor set back for him. It would’ve been a major setback but Pocono is a huge track and he remained on the lead lap despite the penalty. When another caution came out and regrouped the pack he was able to drive up through the field again. During that run he was able to drive up to around 9th. That’s about as far forward as he got all afternoon except when he used pit strategy and didn’t pit before the third to last caution. During the second to last caution he had to pit for fuel just like Dale Earnhardt Jr. and a number of other drivers. At the end he was able to rally up to a 14th place finish. Last August Harvick also finished 14th. In his next three most recent Pocono races he finished 5th, 4th and 4th. One Harvick fun Pocono fact is that he’s only led 5 laps here and all of them came in the 2010 June race. (Yahoo! A Driver)

Clint Bowyer – This spring Clint Bowyer overcame a speeding penalty and finished 6th. Among penalized drivers he was the second highest finisher. MWR cars were strong at Pocono earlier year. In addition to his good finish teammate Mark Martin finished 2nd. Before this springs race his three most recent Pocono finishes were 18th, 16th and 15th. In RCR equipment Clint Bowyer had some good finishes and one time he even looked like he was the driver to beat (got into the wall though). Clint Bowyer has a 15.7 average finish but I think he’ll contend for a top ten finish once again. (Yahoo! B Driver)
