Pocono Pennsylvania 400 Fantasy Racing Drivers To Avoid
Sam Hornish Jr. – Sam Hornish Jr. last raced at Pocono in June 2011. In that race he drove Travis Kvapil’s car and finished 35th. Before that race he had four straight top 11 finishes piloting a Penske Racing car. Hornish claims to be a better driver now so why not pick him and hold his feet to the fire, especially if your in an allocation league. Indy is a similar track and Sam Hornish Jr. finished 16th in the #22. (Yahoo! C Driver)

Regan Smith – I wouldn’t buy any fantasy stock in Regan Smith for the Pennsylvania 400. His best Pocono finish is 15th and his average finish is a non-skewed 22.1. I say it’s non-skewed because he’s only finished lower than 30th once and he’s completed 1,362 of the 1,364 laps run. In June Regan Smith had one of his better races at Pocono. He started in 7th and finished 16th. His average running position was also 16th. (Yahoo! C Driver)

Aric Almirola – Earlier this year Aric Almirola made his first and only start at Pocono. He started in 29th and finished in 28th. What concerns me about Almirola is that he doesn’t have any momentum. Since Dover he hasn’t finished in the top fifteen. He is a somewhat of a rookie and his teammate Marcos Ambrose finished 13th so there is some hope for a better finish. (Yahoo! C Driver)
Bobby Labonte – A decade ago Bobby Labonte was money in the bank at Pocono. Between 1999 and 2001 he won three races and had a 5th place average finish. The era of him being a good pick is over though. His 22nd place finish in June snapped his 7 race streak of finishing 25th or worse at Pocono. His last top ten at Pocono was in 2006 so he’s certainly not on the verge of getting a good finish. From a historical perspective Pocono is probably Bobby Labonte’s second best track following Atlanta. (Yahoo! C Driver)
David Ragan – Like many other tracks on the circuit Pocono is not a good venue for Ragan. In eleven races at Pocono he has one top ten and has finished in the top 20 in only three races. Ten of those results were in Roush Fenway equipment. This year in his new ride his results were typical for him. He finished 27th and had a 26th place average running position. His Pocono average finish is 23.1. (Yahoo! C Driver)
