Pure Michigan 400: Fantasy NASCAR “Front Runner” Rankings
Carl Edwards – Carl Edwards wasn’t very impressive in June at Michigan. He started in 42nd (engine change) and 45 laps into the race only moved up to 27th. Other drivers who started in the back who had good cars were able to move up quickly (Johnson & Newman). He ended up finishing 11th but that’s nothing to get excited about. Since he’s been on the scene (August 2004) he has the best average finish in the series (8.4). In sixteen races at Michigan he has two wins, 9 top fives and 12 top tens. I predict he’ll finish between 8th and 13th in the Pure Michigan 400. Edwards will be in “Hail Mary” mode but the #99 team hasn’t shown winning speed this season. (Yahoo! A Driver)

Clint Bowyer – Clint Bowyer had a really good car at MIS in June. He finished 7th and had an average running position of 7th. In the middle portion of the race he ran almost 40 laps inside the top three. His 7th place finish marked his third consecutive top 8 finish at MIS. In the last seven Michigan races Bowyer has five top tens and only one finish lower than 13th. That’s a pretty good track record in my opinion. Bowyer has been good on intermediate tracks this season but he’s also had more than his share of problems. (Yahoo! B Driver)
