Bristol Irwin Tools Night Race: Fantasy NASCAR “Mid Pack” Projections
Marcos Ambrose – Ambrose is a rough driver and when you combine that with a tougher Bristol things could go either way. Amborse isn’t exactly known for his giving and taking skills and that could be a problem. He hasn’t been around long so he’s never raced on the old single groove layout. I don’t think that should be a major problem for him though. Dover is a similar track and Ambrose has three straight top tens there. (Yahoo! B Driver)

Martin Truex Jr. – I think the progressive banking really helped Truex. He’s not a bottom feeder at tracks, he’s a rim rider. You can completely forget about his recent 2nd and 3rd place finishes here because his racing groove is gone. Truex has three races under his belt at the old Bristol layout. In them he has a best finish of 18th and an average finish of 31st. One aspect that I like about Truex is his momentum. He currently has four consecutive top tens. (Yahoo! B Driver)

Jeff Burton – In the late 1990′s Jeff Burton was good at Bristol but since then he’s had success but it’s been sporadic. In March he finished 6th but since 2000 he’s only had back to back top tens once. I liked Jeff Burton on the old layout. In the last four races on the old layout he finished 2nd, 9th, 34th and 2nd. He would’ve won the last race on the single grooved Bristol but he’s a nice guy and didn’t rough up Kyle Busch. One aspect about Jeff Burton I like is that he’s a respected driver and no one will go out of their way to wreck him. (Yahoo! B Driver)
