Atlanta Advocare 500: Fantasy NASCAR “Mid Pack” Projections
Marcos Ambrose – Ambrose has sleeper potential at 1.5 mile tracks like Atlanta. His finishes on tracks of this length haven’t been the best this season but don’t be fooled. He can get the job done. At Texas he was poised to finish in the top ten but on the last lap he ran out of gas (Yahoo! Race Chart). At Charlotte (Similar track but more narrow) he started on the front row and had a fast car but a hub problem sidelined him early (Yahoo! Race Chart). Last season Ambrose finished 21st but in the two prior races he finished 10th and 11th. (Yahoo! B Driver)

Juan Pablo Montoya – Juan Pablo Montoya learned his way around Atlanta quickly. In his first race he finished 5th and had a 10th place average running position. He’s also been pretty good here recently as well. Prior to his 2011 15th place finish his next three most recent finishes are 9th, 3rd and 3rd. Montoya has been consistent this season on 1.5 mile tracks. On them he’s finished in the top 20 in 80% of the races and his best finish is 12th (Kansas). At the two most similar tracks visited this season he’s finished 16th (Texas) and 20th (Charlotte). (Yahoo! B Driver)
