Fantasy NASCAR Predictions: Atlanta Advocare 500
1. Denny Hamlin – Starts 7th – Yahoo! A Driver
After practice for the Advocare 500 I think Denny Hamlin has to be considered the favorite. He likes his car and in Happy Hour they worked on fine tuning it. In practice #2 Kevin Harvick said that Denny Hamlin had the best car. If that’s true how can he not be #1? His car was also fast on the speed charts. His 10 lap average in Happy Hour was the second quickest. In terms of a 15 lap average he ranked 3rd. Hamlin has been a good driver at Atlanta. Last season he started in 13th, led 6 laps and finished 8th. When you study drivers it’s important to dig a little deeper than just their finish position. In 2010 he finished 43rd but before he went out with an engine failure he led more than half the laps he completed (led 74 of 143). Hamlin has been good on 1.5 mile tracks this season. He won at Kansas and nearly won at Kentucky.

2. Kasey Kahne – Starts 11th – Yahoo! B Driver
Kasey Kahne started off the week as my #1 Top Tier Elite driver. What I really like about Kahne is that he adapts to the track as it changes. I expect Kahne to be at his best in the race around the mid-point. That’s when he’ll shine on the high line and look like he has a 100 more horsepower. With this track being so slick the Hendrick rear-end modifications should really help. Kahne has two wins at Atlanta and in a Hendrick car this time around I think there’s no question he’ll be good. This season at the two tracks considered to be the most similar Kahne has a win (Charlotte) and a 7th place finish (Texas). Kahne will be using his Indy chassis (finished 12th).
