Richmond Federated Auto Parts 400 Practice #1 Notes

Tony Stewart – Early in practice Tony Stewart was the only driver who was in race trim. They focused on making the car more comfortable. It was mentioned they needed to work on turning. Later on in practice they still weren’t  happy with their car in race trim. At the end they weren’t happy in either race trim or qualifying trim.

Kyle Busch – Early in practice Kyle Busch said that something was really messed up with their car. They then focused on working underneath the car. Later in practice Kyle said that they made a lot of progress at fixing the issue but there was still a slight chatter on the right side tires in turns 1&2.

Brad Keselowski – They brought a new car this weekend and their focusing on R&D work for New Hampshire. In the practice session it was noted that he had the best 5 lap average speed early in the session.

Jeff Gordon – Gordon said that their qualifying trim was “as good as it was gonna get”. They then went to race trim. In race trim their changes kept getting him looser and looser and as a result they changed directions.
