Dover AAA 400: Fantasy NASCAR “Front Runner” Rankings
Kasey Kahne – Kasey Kahne had a good car in June but he wasn’t as good as his Hendrick teammates. He finished 9th and had a 12th place average running position. Last fall he had his only top five finish at this speedway. In 17 Dover races he’s only finished in the top ten in five races. In his first “Monster Mile” race in 2004 Kahne came close to winning but while he was leading late he spun in oil and wrecked his car. (Yahoo! B Driver)
Carl Edwards – Carl Edwards had a fast car in June but trouble found him. On lap #160 while he was running in 5th he had a cut tire and pounded the wall. The damage to the #99 was severe and he had to go into the garage. Prior to his showing this spring Carl had finished in the top ten in ten of the last eleven races at Dover. His only finish not in the top ten in that span was an 11th. Last fall Edwardsl started in 4th and finished 3rd. He had a car that was capable of winning but he had a pit road mistake (Yahoo! Race Chart). (Yahoo! A Driver)
Mark Martin – Mark Martin had a good car at Dover in June. He started on the pole, led 43 laps and had a 6th place average running position. He ended up finishing 14th but he was better than that. Up until about 100 laps to go he ran nearly the entire race in the top 8. In the last run he really struggled (Yahoo! Race Chart). Dover has been a very good track for Martin. He’s raced here 52 times and has 4 wins and 23 top five finishes. Martin is a smooth driver and as long as he can avoid the late race “fantasy let down” he’ll finish in the top ten. (Yahoo! B Driver)
