Phoenix AdvoCare 500: Fantasy NASCAR “Front Runner” Rankings
Tony Stewart – Tony Stewart had a 6th through 12th place car in March. He started in 2nd and led 9 laps. He didn’t finish good though. His 22nd place result is highly deceiving. Under caution late in the race he shut off his car to conserve gas and couldn’t get it restarted. This cost him a few laps. Before he had that issue he was running in 13th. Last fall Stewart arguably had the best car at Phoenix. He finished 3rd and led 160 laps. I think the #14 team will be competitive in this race. At shorter flat tracks he has recent finishes of 4th (Richmond) and 7th (New Hampshire). In the spring race at Richmond (most similar track) Stewart had the best car but wasn’t good on restarts. Joey Logano – Logano looked racy in March. He made aggressive moves on the track and wasn’t afraid to ruffle feathers. He started in 9th, finished 10th and had an 11th place average running position. I would expect a good performance out of Logano in the AdvoCare 500. Joe Gibbs Racing cars are among the best at shorter flat tracks and Logano has stepped up his game recently. No driver has two top tens on the new surface but Logano comes as close as possible to accomplishing this task. Last fall he finished 11th. (Yahoo! B Driver)

Kevin Harvick – With two laps to go in March Kevin Harvick got within a car length of Denny Hamlin but got loose coming off a turn and then ran out of gas on the final lap. He had such a big lead over third that he was able to coast the finish. If you’re a loop data fan then you’ll be happy to hear he earned the best driver rating (134.7). He also led the most laps (88) and had the best average running position (3rd). The #29 team was better at the start of the season so I don’t see him repeating his performance. In the last three races at shorter flat tracks he’s finished 8th (New Hampshire), 10th (Richmond) and 11th (New Hampshire). (Yahoo! A Driver)
