Drivers to avoid in the Phoenix AdvoCare 500
Jamie McMurray – Jamie McMurray had an eventful race at Phoenix earlier this season. He was involved in a three car wreck and later in the race his engine blew up. These problems shouldn’t impact his fantasy value any because he wasn’t good anyways. If he didn’t have any problems he likely would’ve finished in the twenties. Last fall in the inaugural race on the new surface he finished 17th. I don’t see any upside in McMurray in the AdvoCare 500. At similar tracks this season he has three straight finishes in the twenties and a 20.5 average finish. (Yahoo! B Driver)

Regan Smith – Regan Smith had a good performance at Phoenix earlier this year. He qualified in 3rd but ended up finishing in 20th. Smith ran in the top ten for about the last sixty laps of the race but with two laps to go he ran out of gas (Yahoo! Race Chart). Last fall on the new surface he was involved in a wreck and finished 38th. This season on similar tracks Smith has been about a 20th place performer. In March Kurt Busch didn’t have a bad day in the #51. Busch finished 15th and had a 16th place average running position. (Yahoo! B Driver)

Bobby Labonte – In the AdvoCare 500 I would look for Labonte to finish between 17th and 25th. In the Phoenix, Richmond and New Hampshire races this season he has a 20.2 average finish. On these tracks this year his worst finish is 25th. In March at Phoenix he finished 16th and had a 20th place average running position. Last fall he finished 21st. (Yahoo! C Driver)
David Ragan – If you need a +25th place driver at Phoenix David Ragan is your guy. That’s exactly what you should expect if you pick him. In March he finished 25th and had a 29th place average running position. What I don’t like about Ragan is how he’s performed this year and his results at similar tracks. In 2012 his only finishes better than 20th were at plate tracks. At similar tracks this year including the race at Phoenix he has a 30.6 average finish. (Yahoo! C Driver)
