Fantasy Racing Not So Fast – Bristol Food City 500
Casey Mears – Remember who started on the pole in August? That’s right it was Casey Mears! Last year in practice he had the fastest time and when it rained he was awarded the pole. When the green flag waved Mears was no pushover. He led the first 26 laps and was hard to pass until Joey Logano got a run on him on the low side. Once he lost the lead though he fell back as quickly as you likely imagined (Yahoo! Race Chart). In the race Mears finished 21st and recorded the 25th best driver rating. (Yahoo! C Driver)

Bobby Labonte – Last summer at Bristol Bobby Labonte finished 14th. His Yahoo! Race Chart tells the story of a driver avoiding trouble in a high attrition race. Other than his finish position there’s nothing attractive about his race from last year. He started in 36th and earned the 24th best driver rating. I wouldn’t count on him repeating his good finish. Since 2008 at Bristol he only has one other teens finish and a 25.3 average finish. (Yahoo! B Driver)
Danica Patrick – Danica Patrick had one of her better Sprint Cup Races at Bristol last year. Keep in mind “better” doesn’t necessarily mean a lot. She started in 43rd, had a 28th place average running position and finished 29th. The reason why I say it was better is because with 66 laps to go she was running in 19th on the lead lap but was wrecked by Regan smith. This will be her second Sprint Cup race at Bristol so it should be interesting to see how she performs. In the Nationwide Series night race last year she finished in 9th. (Yahoo! C Driver)
David Ragan – David Ragan had a not so memorable performance last August. He had an average running position of 32nd and finished 31st. Even though Bristol is now a completely different beast he’s never fared well at this bull ring. He’s only finished in the top ten once and has finished 20th or worse in 9 of his 12 starts. (Yahoo!
