Auto Club 400 – Fantasy NASCAR Top Tier Elite Picks
Kyle Busch – Kyle Busch should be on your fantasy NASCAR picking radar for the 2013 Auto Club 400. If he’s not then you haven’t been paying attention in recent races at Fontana. Last year Kyle Busch finished 2nd, led 80 laps, had a second place average running position and recorded the best driver rating. In 2011 he led 151 laps and faded late to a third place finish. In 2005 Kyle Busch won his first Sprint Cup race here. A few weeks ago at Las Vegas Kyle Busch was really good but self-inflicted problems hurt his chances for victory. So far in 2013 Kyle Busch has been fast every week and that trend will continue at California. My prediction is that Kyle Busch will win the Auto Club 400. (Yahoo! B Driver)
Jimmie Johnson – There isn’t a safer fantasy pick for the Auto Club 400 then Jimmie Johnson. In 18 races at Fontana he has five wins, twelve top fives and fourteen top tens. Since 2007 he has 10 consecutive top tens, led 747 laps, a 3.3 average finish and a series best 129.9 driver rating. His driver rating over this stretch of races is 22.8 better than his closest competitor. Last year at Fontana Jimmie Johnson had a pretty good car. It wasn’t the best at the start of the race but Chad Knaus tuned it to his liking. In the race Johnson started in 10th, finished 10th and had an average running position of 5th. Johnson was very lucky the race was rain shortened. During the last caution before the race ended his motor blew up. What happened in Vegas doesn’t stay in Vegas. Performances from that race will carry over. At Vegas Johnson had one of the strongest cars. He led 66 laps and finished 6th. Kasey Kahne – Kasey Kahne will be tough to beat in the Auto Club 400. He’s a former winner and he excels on this track type. In sixteen races at this venue he has nine top ten finishes. Last year he finished 14th. What makes Kahne’s fantasy value at Auto Club Speedway high is his Las Vegas performance. In that race his car was the best in the field over long runs. In the Kobalt Tools 400 he finished 2nd, led 114 laps and recorded the best driver rating (138.9). This team could very well have an early edge with the Gen 6 car and it’s important you take advantage of the opportunity. Kahne could easily get back to back wins this weekend. (Yahoo! A Driver)
