Auto Club 400 Fantasy NASCAR Front Runner Rankings
Tony Stewart – Tony Stewart has been very good at Auto Club Speedway recently. He’s won two out of the last three races and since 2009 he has a 6.2 average finish. Last year at Fontana Stewart was very impressive. He started back in 9th and charged his way to the front. In my mind there’s really no question Smoke had the best car last year. In terms of picking Stewart for this years race I would approach that idea with caution. It appears that Stewart-Haas Racing is struggling a little bit with the Gen 6 car. At Las Vegas he finished 11th but struggled for much of the race. His average running position was 20th and he only raced in the top fifteen in about a quarter of the race (25.1%) If Tony Stewart performed better at Las Vegas then I would’ve ranked him as a “Top Tier Elite” pick. Clint Bowyer – Clint Bowyer really struggled at Las Vegas and that worries me. He started on the front row and dropped through the field like a rock. I hope something was wrong with his car (part) that would explain his problems. I will consider his performance in the Kobalt Tools 400 as a fluke because this team is much better than that. Due to his struggles at Vegas make sure you read ifantsayrace.com’s weekend content to know if he should be on your team. Auto Club Speedway has been a good track for Bowyer. He finished 13th last year and prior to that he had four consecutive top ten finishes. His Fontona average finish is 10.8. In fall 2010 Bowyer had this race won but a late debris caution took away a near certain victory. (Yahoo! A Driver)

Kevin Harvick – Auto Club Speedway is Harvick’s home track and he’s fared well here. In the last five races at Fontana he has a 4.8 average finish (second best) and the third best driver rating (107.5). Last season at this venue Harvick was good. He started in 7th, had a 7th place average running position and finished 4th. In the 2011 Auto Club 400 Harvick walked away with the trophy. He reeled in Kyle Busch and Jimmie Johnson in the closing laps and led a grand total of 1 lap. At Las Vegas Harvick appeared to have a good car but I think the #29 team was caught off guard by the weather. In the Kobalt Tools 400 he finished 9th and had a 7th place average running position.
