Texas NRA 500 Fantasy NASCAR Top Tier Elite Picks
Matt Kenseth – Matt Kenseth will enter the Texas NRA 500 as one of the favorites. He’s won here twice and in the last fifteen Texas races he’s finished in the top five on eleven occasions. Also in these fifteen races he has the best average finish (5.5), best average running position (9.3), and the best driver rating (108.3). Currently at Texas Kenseth has five consecutive top five finishes. No other driver has more than two in a row. I really like Kenseth’s chances in the NRA 500. In the Gen 6 car he’s been one of the strongest performers, especially at high-speed intermediate tracks. On this track type this season he has a 4th place average finish and has scored the 2nd most points. Las Vegas is the only 1.5 mile track visited thus far and in that race he took home the trophy and led 42 laps. My prediction is that Matt Kenseth will win the Texas NRA 500 (Yahoo! A Driver)
Kasey Kahne – Kasey Kahne has been one of the best drivers in the Gen 6 car at intermediate tracks. Las Vegas is the most similar track visited this season and in that race Kahne had one of the strongest cars, if not the best. His strength in that race was maintaining speed over long runs. In that race he finished 2nd, led 114 laps and had a third place average running position. At Auto Club Speedway he finished 9th but he may of very well been better than that if he didn’t get into the wall early in the event. Last fall at Texas Kahne was involved in an accident late in the race. If that didn’t occur he likely would’ve finished right around 10th. In the 2012 spring race he finished 7th. In seventeen races at Texas Kahne has one win and only five top ten finishes. Don’t be surprised if many Fantasy NASCAR experts pick Kahne. (Yahoo! A Driver)

Kyle Busch – Kyle Busch will be tough to beat in the Texas NRA 500. He’s positioned to be one of the favorites because of how strong he’s been in the Gen 6 car at intermediate tracks. This season on this track type he has a 2.5 average finish and has scored the most points. At Las Vegas he had one of the best cars and overcame a pit road speeding penalty to finish 4th. At Auto Club Speedway he led 62.5% percent of the race and took home the trophy. Kyle Busch has never won at Texas but he’s certainly been good enough to in the past. In a third of his Texas races he’s finished in the top five. Last fall he started in 3rd, finished 3rd, led 80 laps and tied Brad Keselowski for the second best driver rating. (Yahoo! A Driver)
