Texas NRA 500 Fantasy NASCAR Front Runner Rankings
Jeff Gordon – Texas has been an up and down track for Gordon throughout his career. He’s had streaks of good finishes and streaks of not so good finishes. Lately he’s been in the midst of a good streak but that could always change. In twenty-four Texas races Gordon has one win and has finished in the top ten nearly half the time (46%). Last fall at Texas Jeff Gordon was very strong. He was running in second but with 64 laps to go he had a flat tire which caused him to make an emergency pit stop. That put him in a significant hole but he was still able to rebound for a 14th place finish. In his next two most recent TMS races he’s finished 4th and 6th. This season on intermediate tracks Jeff Gordon really hasn’t been that great. At Las Vegas he struggled and finished 25th and at Auto Club Speedway he finished 11th. (Yahoo! A Driver)
Clint Bowyer – Clint Bowyer has been less than impressive at high-speed intermediate tracks this season. At Las Vegas he looked lost despite starting on the front row (finished 27th). When the green flag waved he dropped through the running order like a rock. At Auto Club Speedway he looked much better but his engine expired before 400 miles. If he didn’t have motor problems he likely would’ve finished in the top ten. Texas has been a good track for Bowyer. He has a 12.8 average finish and since 2008 he’s finished in the top ten 70% percent of the time. Last fall he finished 6th. One intangible that should be noted about Bowyer this week is how good he’s been in fuel mileage races (Yahoo! A Driver)

Kevin Harvick – Texas has been a good track for Harvick. He’s raced here twenty times and has finished in the top ten 50% percent of the time. Last season at Texas Harvick had a pair of 9th place finishes. If you pick him for the Texas NRA 500 don’t count on him winning but expect a solid effort. 80% percent of his finishes here have been between 3rd and 16th. Harvick’s Texas average finish is 12.5, but if you take away a few races where he had problems it would be around 10th. My only concern about Harvick at Texas is that he doesn’t run up front much. He’s only finished in the top five twice and has only led 5 laps. This season on this track type Harvick has been solid. At Las Vegas he finished 9th and at Auto Club Speedway he finished 13th (better than that result). (Yahoo! A Driver)
