Richmond Toyota Owners 400 Fantasy NASCAR Front Runner Rankings
Jeff Gordon – Last fall at Richmond Jeff Gordon was junk at the start of the race. He started in second, led the first lap but then he dropped like a rock through the running order. He eventually fell as far back as the mid twenties. Then he was saved by the rain which was the turning point for the #24 team. If it didn’t rain he would’ve missed the Chase and his team would’ve had a very poor performance. The rain break allowed this team time to regroup and think of a game plan to make the #24 competitive. For that reason his 2nd place finish deserves about 10 asterisk marks. Last spring at Richmond Gordon had contact with Kurt Busch and finished 23rd. In the 2011 fall race Jeff Gordon had the best car but when he got to the lead Paul Menard magically had problems after an interesting radio conversation that helped out his teammate. Phoenix is very similar and earlier this year he started in 5th and finished 9th. (Yahoo! A Driver)

Brad Keselowski – Last year at Richmond Brad Keselowski finished 7th and 9th. With those two top tens he was one of only four drivers who swept the top ten in 2012. One shinning area of strength for Keselowski is that he qualifies well here. His average starting position is 10.7 and he’s started in the top ten 71% percent of the time. I don’t think you can say that about him anywhere else. In the Toyota Owners 400 I expect Keselowski to be very competitive. He’s been good week in and week out and at Phoenix he finished 4th. Kevin Harvick – Richmond is a good track for Kevin Harvick. He’s won here twice and has finished in the top ten 63% percent of the time. His most recent win was in fall 2011. When he won though it’s important to note the assist he got from Paul Menard’s timely spin. Last fall Kevin Harvick finished 10th at Richmond. In the race he had a 9th place average running position and ran in the top fifteen in 96% percent of the laps completed. At Phoenix Harvick started in 7th and finished 13th. In the Toyota Owners 400 I would look for Harvick to finish between 8th and 14th. (Yahoo! A Driver)
