Charlotte Coca Cola 600 Fantasy NASCAR Mid Pack Predictions
Kurt Busch – Kurt Busch has dark horse sleeper pick potential in the Charlotte Coca Cola 600 but he’s also a risky option. That’s why he’s ranked as a Mid Pack Prediction driver. I don’t know if I can trust him for 600 miles. That’s just a risk I would prefer to avoid. I believe the Texas race earlier this year is the best simulation as to how the Coca Cola 600 could play out. In that race he ran well. He started in 2nd but on lap #177 while he was running around 5th he had fuel injection issues. Before he had that problem I would say his average running position was likely around 6th. His other finishes on high-speed intermediate tracks this season are 5th (Auto Club Speedway), 15th (Kansas) and 20th (Las Vegas). Last fall at Charlotte Kurt Busch made his debut for Furniture Row Racing and started in 21st and finished 21st. In the last two Coca Cola 600’s prior to last season Busch had finishes of 1st and 4th. (Yahoo! B Driver)

Jamie McMurray – Jamie McMurray certainly has intriguing fantasy value. He’s won at this track twice and he’s been performing better lately. At the three 1.5 mile tracks visited this season he’s had finishes of 7th (Kansas), 13th (Las Vegas) and 16th (Texas). His 16th at Texas deserves an asterisk though because he was better than that. If he didn’t have problems on pit road he might’ve had a top five car. Just check out his Yahoo! Race Chart. Also as I’ve mentioned in earlier content this week I believe the Texas race is the best simulation for how the Coca Cola 600 could play out. (Yahoo! B Driver)

Ryan Newman – Ryan Newman is never my first choice at high-speed intermediate tracks but he’s been solid on them this season. With the exception of his engine failure at Las Vegas he has finishes of 10th (Auto Club), 10th (Texas) and 14th (Kansas) on these venues. I like his fantasy potential more than I like Stewart’s in the Coca Cola 600. Recently on a typical good day for Newman at Charlotte he finishes between 9th and 15th. In four of the last seven races at this venue he’s finished within that range. (Yahoo! B Driver)
