Michigan Review – August 2012
Do you remember the race last August at Michigan? That was a long time ago. One procedure I do before almost every race in preparation of content is to re-watch the most recent race at the venue. These are my notes from the August 2012 race at Michigan. It’s a quick summary of highlights and low lights experienced by drivers.

Michigan Qualifying Top 6 = Mark Martin, Carl Edwards, Jimmie Johnson, Matt Kenseth, Kasey Kahne, Trevor Bayne (FULL Michigan Qualifying Results)
Due to an engine change Jimmie Johnson had to start in the rear of the field. In June he also had to start in the back.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. started in the rear of the field because he was in a backup car.
Aric Almirola had to start in the rear of the field because he was in a backup car.
Ryan Newman was sick in the race and had to take an IV before it started.
Jimmie Johnson drove into the top 25 in only 15 laps.
Kurt Busch got into the wall hard early
Paul Menard and Martin Truex Jr. ran well early
Mark Martin had a 5 second lead after the first pit cycle
Martin Truex Jr. was up to second following the first pit stop.
Tony Stewart got lapped on lap #57. He was down a cylinder.
