Michigan Quicken Loans 400 Fantasy NASCAR Front Runner Rankings
Tony Stewart – Tony Stewart hasn’t done much this season until recently but it should be noted that perhaps his most impressive performance of the season came at Auto Club Speedway in March. I view Auto Club Speedway as the most similar track to Michigan. In that race he had a car that was capable of winning but Joey Logano blocked him late and that essentially sent him to the back of the lead lap. Stewart has been relatively successful at Michigan. He has one win here and has finished in the top ten 68% percent of the time. In the June race on the new surface last season he finished 2nd, led 18 laps and had a 5th place average running position. In the August race he never had a chance to show any muscle. He lost a cylinder in the first quarter of the race and finished 32nd. Prior to last August’s race he had 5 consecutive top nine finishes. Kurt Busch – Kurt Busch will have dark horse / sleeper potential in the Michigan Quicken Loans 400. Recently he tested here with the #78 team and this will give them an edge heading into the weekend. Historically at Michigan Kurt Busch has either been really, really good or really, really bad. There isn’t to much middle ground in his track record. Recently he’s been stuck in the bad phase. In the last nine races here he has two top tens but six finishes of 30th or worse. At Auto Club Speedway earlier this season he was pretty sporty and had a 5th place finish. In other recent races on high-speed intermediate tracks including Charlotte and Texas he’s been impressive. (Yahoo! B Driver)

Kevin Harvick – This season on high-speed intermediate tracks Kevin Harvick has been consistent. He won at Charlotte but in the other four races on this track type his finishes have all been between 9th and 13th. At Auto Club Speedway earlier this season Kevin Harvick was a contender. His 13th place finish doesn’t do him justice because he was better than that. His down fall was late cautions and restarts. In the race at Fontana it’s important to note he had the third best driver rating. Here’s a look at his Yahoo! Race Chart. Harvick has had some success at Michigan. He won here in 2010 and recorded finishes of 10th and 16th last year. This season I think he’ll perform better because he does good on 2.0 mile intermediates when the grip level is reduced. That allows him to really benefit from racing in the high-line. (Yahoo! A Driver)
