New Hampshire Camping World RV Top 10 Confidence Ranking Picks
1. Kurt Busch – In Happy Hour Kurt Busch was really focusing on setting up his car for balance. That’s important because the track conditions will be vastly different tomorrow. On Sunday I’ve heard estimates it might be 20F hotter. I believe he has a good car for the race. In Happy Hour he ran consistent lap times and ranked high on the speed chart (6th best 10 lap average). On Sunday he’ll be starting on the front row right alongside Brad Keselowski. New Hampshire has been a good track for Busch. He’s won here three times and has finished in the top ten half the time. Richmond is the most similar track on the schedule and earlier this season he had a strong performance there.

2. Clint Bowyer – Don’t be concerned about Bowyer’s 21st place starting position. That can be chalked up to him being the first car on the track during qualifying. He has a good car and he’ll be a contender on Sunday. Clint Bowyer is an elite flat short track specialist. I like his fantasy value on this type of venue more than anywhere else. One key advantage he has on the competition this week is that he tested here with Goodyear. He’ll also be using that very chassis in the race. Last season Bowyer was very good. He had finishes of 3rd and 4th. New Hampshire has historically been a good track for him. He has two wins and should’ve won a third (ran out of gas late). The #15 car looked fast in practice today. In Happy Hour he had the second best 10 lap average. Richmond is the most similar track visited this season and in that race he finished 2nd and led 113 laps.

3. Jimmie Johnson – The #48 team had all sorts of problems with inspection on Friday. Following their 2nd place qualifying effort they failed post qualifying inspection. As a result they’ll start in 43rd. This doesn’t mean you should hit the panic button though. Johnson feels that his car is good enough to win from the back. Last September during qualifying the #48 team had air pressure issues like Hamlin and started mid pack (20th). He didn’t stay back for long though. It only took him 45 laps to crack the top ten. What made him so good was that his car was comfortable and maintained speed over long runs. When the checkered flag waved in September he finished 2nd and earned the third best driver rating. In July 2012 he finished 7th, earned the 5th best driver rating and had a 6th place average running position. New Hampshire has been a good track for Johnson. He has 3 wins, 8 top fives and 15 top tens. The summer Loudon race has been a very good event for him. Since 2006 he has the best average finish (6.4) and the second best driver rating (109.6).
