Indianapolis Samuel Deeds 400 Fantasy NASCAR Front Runner Rankings
Carl Edwards – Last season at Indy Carl Edwards 2012 fortunes were supposed to turn around because Chad Norris was making his crew chief debut. He qualified second but trouble found him early. Just 13 laps into the race he was on pit road with his hood up because he had engine issues. As a result of that he finished 29th. Minus his performance last season he’s been pretty good here. Excluding last season’s disappointment he’s finished in the top ten 50% percent of the time, has an 11th place average finish and hasn’t had a result worse than 18th. At Pocono earlier this season Edwards had a good car but finished poorly because of pit road mistakes. (Yahoo! B Driver)
Clint Bowyer – Clint Bowyer has a 12.4 average finish at Indy but it’s important to note he’s only finished in the top ten twice. His other non-top ten results are all teens finishes. Last season at Indy he started in 33rd, had a 21st place average running position, earned the 20th best driver rating and finished 15th. His 15th place finish is remarkable when you consider that on lap #47 he spun and damaged his car slightly. In 2011 he finished 13th. I guess the positive aspect about him is that if worst comes to worst he’ll still finish in the teens. At Pocono earlier this season he finished 15th and had a 14th place average running position. Brad Keselowski – Penske Racing has won a lot of Indy 500′s but they’ve never won here in a stock car. Keselowski will be looking to change that on Sunday. In the last two Brickyard races he’s come home with 9th place finishes. In last years race he used pit strategy and got up into the lead and led 22 laps. His car in my opinion was top 5 material but during a late restart he lost lots of track position. In his 2011 9th place finish he also used pit strategy and led 17 laps. In his one other start at Indy he finished 19th. At Pocono earlier this year Keselowski had top 5 potential but with 24 laps to go Stewart got loose and he lost several positions. (Yahoo! A Driver)
