Indianapolis Samuel Deeds 400 Fantasy NASCAR Mid Pack Predictions
Paul Menard – In 2011 at Indy Paul Menard stretched his fuel the distance and went on to win at the Brickyard. In the event there’s no question he didn’t have the best car. His average running position was 13th and he only ran 1 fastest lap. In his next two most recent races excluding his win he’s finished 14th. In his other Indy races he’s finished 20th or worse every time. In last season’s 14th place effort he started in 8th, had a 12th place average running position and earned the 11th best driver rating. At Pocono earlier this season he was running in the low teens but on the final lap he had a flat tire. (Yahoo! B Driver)
Jamie McMurray – Indy has been a good track for Jamie McMurray. He’s a former winner, has a 14.0 average finish and has had a result in the top ten 50% percent of the time. Only at Martinsville does he have a higher top ten finish percentage. In 2010 when Jamie McMurray had his magical season he kissed the bricks. The following season after that he was a hyper-mileage driver like Paul Menard and finished 4th. Last season at Indy Jamie McMurray played the pit strategy game more than anyone. His team was going to run the race backwards and on lap #16 he made his first scheduled pit stop. The #1 teams pit strategy didn’t work well because he finished 22nd. With Jamie McMurray having improved performances this season he might just be able to sneak in a top ten on Sunday. (Yahoo! B Driver)

Ryan Newman – Indy is Ryan Newman’s home track but he hasn’t had any home field advantage here. He’s only finished in the top ten twice and has a 19.1 average finish. In last season’s race Newman got one of his two top tens. In the race he finished 7th, had a 12th place average running position and earned the 9th best driver rating. His other top ten was back in his rookie season (2002). Recently at Indy Newman has been a low double-digit finisher. In the four prior Indy races he’s had results of 12th, 13th, 14th and 17th. At Pocono earlier this season Ryan Newman played the pit strategy game quite well. He finished 5th and led 19 laps. (Yahoo! B Driver)
