Pocono GoBowling.com 400 Fantasy NASCAR Top Tier Elite Picks
Jimmie Johnson – You can’t go wrong picking Jimmie Johnson to win the Pocono GoBowling.com 400. In June he had a dominant performance. He started on the pole (qualifying rained out), had a first place average running position, led 80% percent of the race and earned a near perfect 148.1 driver rating. Nobody had anything for Jimmie Johnson in the race and the only time he was passed under green was during the start of the race. After that he was untouchable. Last year the #48 car was also very impressive in both Pocono races. In August his car was just as good as it was in June (2013) but during a late restart while he was leading he got into Matt Kenseth and spun. Under that caution the rain fell and he was unable to improve his position. That led to a misleading 14th place finish. In that race he started in 10th, had a 5th place average running position and led 45% percent of the race. In June 2012 the #48 car was crazy fast. He started in 24th and it only took him 40 laps to crack the top five. Then during the first round of pit stops he was a driver who was caught speeding but he was still able to rebound for a 4th place finish. Since August 2007 Jimmie Johnson has been spectacular here. Over these 12 races he has the best average finish (6.3), best average running position (7.6), led the most laps (415) and has the best driver rating (118.0). My prediction is that Jimmie Johnson will sweep Pocono this year. Look for many fantasy NASCAR experts to pick him this week. (Yahoo! A Driver)

Tony Stewart – Tony Stewart had a strong performance at Pocono earlier this season. He started in 19th and drove up to a 4th place finish. Tony Stewart was particularly strong in two segments of the race. He was at his best in the beginning of the race and the end of the race. When the green flag waved it only took him about 20 laps to crack the top ten. During the middle segment of the race he spent a lot of time driving between 10th and 15th. Then when it came time to get on the gas in the last 20 laps he rallied from 10th up to his eventual finish position. Since Pocono was repaved Stewart’s the only in the series who’s finished in the top ten every race. To top that fact he’s also the only driver with 3 top fives on the new surface. In last season’s races at Pocono he finished 3rd and 5th. Since August 2008 at the Tricky Triangle Stewart has a 6.2 average finish. The track will be even slicker this time around so look for Stewart to have a strong showing in the GoBowling.com 400. (Yahoo! A Driver)

Kasey Kahne – Kasey Kahne had a fast car at Pocono earlier this season, he just didn’t have a chance to show it. Right when the green flag waved his day was essentially over because he had drive train problems that kept him in the garage for 19 laps. When he got back out on the track he ran competitive laps times. Last August when he didn’t have any problems he finished 2nd, earned the best driver rating and had a 5th place average running position. In June 2012 he had top five potential but he had contact with Denny Hamlin which later resulted in him having a cut tire and pounding the wall. Kasey Kahne has a volatile track record at Pocono. He’s a former winner but he’s also finished outside the top twenty in more than half his starts. (Yahoo! A Driver)
