Watkins Glen CHEEZ-IT 355 Fantasy NASCAR Front Runner Rankings

Clint Bowyer – Last season on road courses nobody was better than Bowyer. He accumulated the most points in the series and had a 2.5 average finish. At Watkins Glen last season he had his best race ever. He finished 4th, had a 7th place average running position and earned the 5th best driver rating. In his other six races at Watkins Glen he has one other top ten result and four top sixteen finishes. At Infineon earlier this season Clint Bowyer had one of the best cars. He just never had the track position to truly challenge. In that race at Sonoma he started in 5th, finished 5th and earned the 4th best driver rating. Jimmie Johnson – Jimmie Johnson was very good at Watkins Glen last season. He started in 3rd, finished 3rd, and earned the 4th best driver rating. From a career standpoint this has been a favorable venue for him. He doesn’t have his bucket list win but he does have 4 top fives and 7 top twelves in 11 races. Qualifying has been a strong suite of his. He’s won two poles, has nine consecutive top ten starts and a 6.2 average starting position. His only notable weakness here is leading laps. He’s led a grand total of 11 laps and never led more than 4 a race. At Infineon earlier this season Johnson had an 11th place average running position and finished 9th. (Yahoo! A Driver)

Martin Truex Jr. – Watkins Glen has been a good track for Martin Truex Jr. He has a 13.7 average result and has finished in the top ten nearly 60% percent of the time. Currently he has back to back top tens. In last season’s race he started in 9th, had a 9th place average running position and finished 10th. His finish could’ve been a lot worse though. At one point in the race he ran out of gas but was saved by a caution on that very lap. In 2011 he finished 4th. Earlier this year at Infineon Martin Truex Jr. ended his long winless streak and earned his second career victory. In that race he earned the best driver rating and led 51 laps. Look for Martin Truex Jr. to have a strong showing in the CHEEZ-IT 355 at the Glen. (Yahoo! B Driver)
