Watkins Glen CHEEZ-IT 355 Fantasy NASCAR Mid Pack Predictions
Ryan Newman – Ryan Newman’s first race at Watkins Glen was his best race. In 2002 he started in 5th, led 11 laps and finished 2nd. What’s notable about that race is that he didn’t have power steering. Since then he’s only finished in the top ten twice with his most recent being in 2006. Since 2007 Newman has a 16.5 average finish, 18.5 average running position and has earned the 17th best driver rating. Last season at the Glen he started in 6th, had an 18th place average running position and finished 11th. At Infineon in June Newman started in 30th and finished 15th. Look for Newman to finish somewhere around the mid teens in the CHEEZ-IT 355. (Yahoo! B Driver)

Greg Biffle – Greg Biffle has had more than his share of bad finishes at Watkins Glen. Last year was problem free for him though. He finished 6th, had an 11th place average running position and earned the 11th best driver rating. In 2011 he started in 28th and drove up to 13th but he ran out of gas before his first pit stop. That ended his chance of having a competitive race. At the Glen Biffle only has two other top ten finishes in addition to 2012. All of his other results are 21st or worse. What’s truly troubling about his track record is that he’s finished 31st or worse 50% percent of the time. At Infineon earlier this season Biffle had a good race. He started in 4th and finished 8th. Kasey Kahne – Kasey Kasey should be expected to perform within a single digit deviation of his 18.4 average finish. That average finish isn’t skewed in any way because he’s completed every lap run in his nine Watkins Glen starts. Not in any of his races though has he cracked the top ten. Last season Kasey Kahne had his best performance. He finished 13th and earned the 16th best driver rating. He could’ve potentially finished a lot worse. In the race he got a pit road penalty during the first round of pit stops and with 28 laps to go he spun on his own. Kasey Kahne has been successful at Infineon recently but it hasn’t translated into success here. At Infineon in June he earned the third best driver rating and finished 6th. (Yahoo! A Driver)
