Richmond Federated Auto Parts 400 Fantasy Mid Pack Predictions
Brian Vickers – Brian Vickers does have sleeper pick / dark horse potential in the Richmond Federated Auto Parts 400 but picking him can be risky. That’s why I’m ranking him as a Mid Pack Prediction driver. His average finish is a lowly 25.5. Earlier this year Brian Vickers drove the #11 at Richmond. He qualified 2nd and through the first 35% percent of the race I would estimate his average running position was about 3rd. Then he pitted out of sequence and was never competitive again. At the end of the race he wrecked and brought out the Green-White-Checker. Recently AJ Allmendinger tested the #55 for Vickers at Richmond. Richmond hasn’t been a very good track for Vickers. He’s only finished in the top ten three times and has had a result outside the top twenty in 77% percent of his races! (Yahoo! B Driver)
Mark Martin – Just last week Mark Martin tested at Richmond with Stewart-Haas Racing for the Richmond Federated Auto Parts 400. Martin’s had recent success at Richmond. In three of the last four races here he’s finished in the top ten. His lone finish outside the top ten came in the race this April. In that event he had a top ten car and ran around that mark for about 80% percent of the race but with 63 laps to go him and Kahne got together and as a result he finished 38th. One notable strength about Mark Martin is his qualifying prowess. In the last five Richmond races he’s started in the top ten every race, has one pole and a 5.2 average starting position. One fun fantasy fact about Martin is that he’s won a pole at Richmond in the last four decades. (Yahoo! B Driver)

Jeff Burton – Outside of intermediate tracks shorter flat tracks like Richmond present Jeff Burton’s best chance for success. This season on this sub track type that is comprised of Richmond, New Hampshire and Phoenix he’s finished in the top ten every race and has a sixth place average finish. Earlier this season at Richmond Jeff Burton had a solid performance. During the last caution he used pit strategy and climbed up to the front of the field. When the checkered flag waved he finished 5th. Last fall at Richmond he finished 6th. (Yahoo! B Driver)
