Dover AAA 400 Fantasy NASCAR Mid Pack Predictions
Greg Biffle – Dover once ranked as one of Greg Biffle’s best tracks but my prediction is that he’ll finish mid back in the Dover AAA 400. He’s a two-time winner and at one point in his career he had seven consecutive top ten finishes. Currently at Dover it’s been six races since he cracked the top ten. His average finish over this stretch of races is 17.8. Earlier this season at the Monster Mile he was very mediocre. He started in 19th, had a 21st place average running position and finished 15th. Last fall at Dover he started in 6th and finished 16th. In the race he performed better than his result. He was a driver who got burned by the first caution during the pit cycle and then later in the event on lap #194 he had a tire issue while running in 12th. In spring 2012 he finished 11th and had a 13th place average running position. Because of his lack of recent success I’ll encourage you to look around for other fantasy options for the Dover AAA 400. Jamie McMurray – At Dover earlier this year Jamie McMurray finished 33rd. That’s one of those finishes that deserve an asterisk mark because he was quite good in the race. In the event he had top ten potential but with 74 laps to go he had a cut tire and got into the wall. When he had that problem he was running in 9th place. Prior to that issue he ran nearly the entire event in the top ten. Dover has been a really rough track for Jamie McMurray. His last top ten was in June 2008 and since then his average finish is 23.4. Ryan Newman – Earlier this season Ryan Newman started in 5th at Dover but that’s really his lone highlight for the event. After the green flag waved he slowly started falling deeper and deeper in the field. Around lap #270 he was complaining about some type of shock problem with his car. Shortly after that around lap 300 he took out his frustrations on the back of David Gilliland’s car and it spun the #38 but since this is a self cleaning track he spun down the groove right into Newman which ended both of their days. If that incident didn’t happen he likely would’ve finished around the mid twenties. Early in his career Dover was arguably Newman’s best track. In three of his first six starts he took home the trophy. Times have changed though. Minus his crash earlier this year his average finish over the last four Dover races is 20th. Look for Newman’s ceiling to be about the mid teens in the Dover AAA 400. (Yahoo B Driver)
