Yahoo C List Fantasy NASCAR Preview – Kansas Hollywood Casino 400
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. – Kansas is a good track for Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and it fits his driving style. He likes tracks where he can use a lot of throttle. Last fall in the inaugural race on the new surface in the Nationwide Series he emerged victorious. This spring at Kansas he had arguably the best race of his Sprint Cup career. He finished 11th, had an 11th place average running position, led 26 laps and earned the 8th best driver rating. He likely would’ve finished better in the race because he was leading when he came in for a pit stop and shortly after that Brad Keselowski’s rear quarter panel fell off and it trapped him a lap down. Chicagoland is the most similar shaped venue on the schedule and a few weeks ago he finished 8th. Also don’t forget that the #17 team won here last fall.
AJ Allmendinger – AJ Allmendinger will once again be driving the 47 at Kansas. In two out of his first three Kansas races he finished in the top ten. In his last four Kansas races he finished 25th or worse every race. In spring 2012 when he drove for Penske Racing he won the pole, led 44 laps but had fuel issues. Last fall he drove the 51 and was involved in an accident and finished 35th. In AJ Allmendinger’s last two races on 1.5 mile tracks in the 47 car he’s had respectable performances in his tier. At Atlanta he finished 14th and at Chicagoland he finished 21st.

Casey Mears – Just as it is for other small teams 1.5 mile tracks have been a struggle. On them he has a 26.7 average finish and a 29.4 average running position. On these tracks this season he only has one top twenty finish and it was at Kentucky. Earlier this year at Kansas Casey Mears was involved in an accident and finished 34th. Last season at this venue he was also involved in an accident and finished 37th.
Justin Allgaier – Justin Allgaier will be driving the #51 car at Kansas in the Hollywood Casino 400. I would look for him to have a result similar to his performance at Chicagoland. In that race he started in 36th, had a 30th place average running position and finished 27th. That race was also his only career start.
Danica Patrick – Danica Patrick has had a rough time racing at Kansas. In both races she has shown anger on the track towards her competitors. Last year her retaliation led to the garage for repairs. This season she had a better race. She started in 25th and finished 25th.
David Ragan – If you pick David Ragan brace yourself for a finish in the twenties. It wouldn’t make sense to expect more from him than that. Earlier this year at Kansas he finished 30th, had a 32nd place average running position and earned the 32nd best driver rating. Last years race at Kansas was a high attrition event and he had a better result. In that race he finished 20th but had a 27th place average running position. This season on 1.5 mile tracks David Ragan has struggled. He has a 26.7 average finish and a 29.1 average running position.
