Charlotte Bank Of America 500 Fantasy NASCAR Top Tier Elite Picks
Matt Kenseth – You can’t go wrong if your fantasy pick for the Charlotte Bank of America 500 is Matt Kenseth. On 1.5 mile tracks this season he’s consistently been the driver to beat. Evidence of that is the fact he’s won half the races on tracks of this length. On 1.5 mile tracks he’s either gone to victory lane or finished in the low double digits. Charlotte Motor Speedway has been a great track for Matt Kenseth. He’s a two-time winner who’s finished in the top five a quarter of the time and in the top ten 50% percent of the time. His most recent Charlotte win was in fall 2011. Earlier this season at Charlotte Kenseth arguably had the best car in the field. In the race he started 3rd, had a 5th place average running position, led 112 laps and finished 15th. His car was a lot better than 15th. What happened is that during a pit cycle he was leading but he came in for a pit stop. Shortly after that with about 97 laps to go there was a caution. That trapped him back in traffic and then with about 58 laps to go while he was in the pack the “Big One” ensued and it caused damage to his car. If that didn’t happen he could’ve potentially won the race because his car was that good. Also it should be noted that in the race his car was very good on two tires. (Yahoo A Driver)

Joey Logano – Joey Logano has never won at Charlotte but it ranks as arguably his best track. In two-thirds of his races here he’s finished in the top ten. That’s his highest top ten percentage at any track on the schedule and all of those good finishes equate out to his 9.6 average finish. Logano is also a very safe fantasy option because in his nine starts he’s only finished lower than 13th once. Earlier this season at Charlotte Logano had a good car. It wasn’t strong in the day time heat but when the sun went down it really came to life. In the race he finished 5th and in the last 100 laps I would estimate his average running position was around 5th. This season on 1.5 mile tracks Joey Logano has been one of the strongest performers. When you minus the races he’s had trouble he’s typically been right around a top five performer on this track type. (Yahoo B Driver)

Kyle Busch – Kyle Busch is the best driver at Charlotte who’s never went to victory lane. Since fall 2007 minus the two races he had problems (engine & accident) he has a 3.9 average finish and a 6.2 average running position. Including the races over this stretch where he’s had problems he’s led 791 laps which is the most in the series by 373 laps. That 373 laps lead plus over the competition equates out to almost a full Coca Cola 600. Earlier this season at Charlotte Kyle Busch unquestionably had one of the best cars. He led 65 laps and earned the 7th best driver rating despite his early exit. What happened is that around lap 257 his engine went south which led to his 38th place finish. Before his exit I would estimate that his average running position was around 2nd. This season on 1.5 mile tracks Kyle Busch has been a very strong performer, especially in the night races. In the 2013 night races minus his performance at Charlotte in May he’s had finishes of 1st (Texas), 1st (Texas) and 2nd (Chicagoland). Typically as long as he’s avoided trouble on 1.5 mile tracks this season he’s finished in the top five. (Yahoo B Driver)
