Denny Hamlin made his return to racing at Talladega this spring following his back injury.
The fuel window was 42 to 46 laps.
Early in the race Denny Hamlin fell back and was helped by Tony Stewart.
Martin Truex Jr. led the first 5 laps before getting passed from Matt Kenseth. This made it 7 consecutive races that Kenseth has led at Talladega.
JJ Yeley was in 10th on lap #20. He started the race near the back.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. pitted on lap 21 after having contact with Kvapil. He went down a lap.
Trevor Bayne’s transmission blew up on lap 22.
During the Trevor Bayne transmission caution Denny Hamlin got out of the 11 and was replaced by Brian Vickers.
On lap 43 Kyle Busch turned Kasey Kahne. Other drivers who were collected in the carnage were the 29,11,14,9,31,3,16,83,24, and 78. Among those drivers the damage to the 24, 78 and 9 was only minor.
