Talladega Camping World RV Sales 500 Fantasy NASCAR Front Runner Rankings
Jeff Gordon – At Talladega in May Jeff Gordon had a damaged car and finished 11th. He was a non-fatal victim of the lap #43 wreck. In the race he was really nowhere to be found. He had a 24th place average running position and earned the 26th best driver rating. Last fall at Talladega when the carnage ensued he escaped it and finished runner-up. Jeff Gordon has also had problems in the other two races on this track type in 2013. In the Daytona 500 he had heating issues for much of the race and in July he was taken out in an accident. From a career standpoint Talladega has been a good track for Jeff Gordon. He’s a six-time winner and has finished in the top ten 46% percent of the time. It’s important to note though that his last win was in 2007. One attribute I like about Jeff Gordon heading into the Talladega Camping World RV Sales 500 is his momentum. I’ve always viewed it as a good luck charm heading into high attrition races. (Yahoo A Driver)

Carl Edwards – Carl Edwards had one of the strongest cars at Talladega this spring. After qualifying was canceled he started on the pole because he had the fastest practice speed. In the race his car looked good and he was one of the consistent front runners. His average running position was the sixth best for the event (13th). Also in the race he finished 3rd and earned the 4th best driver rating. During the final restart he took the lead and led until the Front Row Motorsports teammates passed him. Also in the race he passed Ricky Stenhouse Jr. just before the rain fell. If the race didn’t go back to green he would’ve won. His performance earlier this year wasn’t a typical performance from him though. His driving style on these tracks is to usually just hang out in the back which often bites him. His third place finish in May was just his second top ten since 2007. At Daytona this season he wrecked twice and had results of 29th and 33rd. (Yahoo B Driver)

Kyle Busch – From a career standpoint Talladega has been a trouble spot on the schedule for Kyle Busch. In seventeen races he has a 22.9 average finish and has had a result outside the top twenty 59% percent of the time. Earlier this year he had a short race. On lap #43 he attempted to bump draft Kasey Kahne but it ended up wrecking both of them and took out about 10 other cars. Things haven’t always been bad for Busch at Talladega. He’s a former winner (2008) and last season he had results of 2nd and 3rd. In the other races on this track type this season he’s been strong. In the Daytona 500 he had top five potential but his engine blew up with a quarter of the race remaining. In the July Daytona race he led 29 laps and finished 12th. (Yahoo B Driver)
