Yahoo C List Fantasy NASCAR Preview – Talladega Camping World RV Sales 500
David Ragan – In May David Ragan ran near the tail end of the lead lap for much of the race but when it was time to go on the last lap he teamed up with David Gilliland and drove up to the front. His Talladega victory marked his third consecutive top ten at Dega. The only other driver with three consecutive top tens is Matt Kenseth. His win was also his second career victory on this track type. This season at Daytona he has finishes of 35th and 22nd. (Yahoo C List)

Michael Waltrip – Michael Waltrip has strong sleeper value especially when you consider the tier he’s in. At Talladega he’ll be driving the #55. This season in plate races when he’s driven his own car he’s had results of 4th and 5th. Last fall at Talladega he had a good chance to win the race but was blocked by Tony Stewart on the final lap. In spring 2012 at Talladega he led 21 laps and finished 19th. In fall 2011 he finished 9th. (Yahoo C List)
David Gilliland – Restrictor plate tracks have long been David Gilliland’s best track type. Even dating back to his Yates Racing days. Recently at Talladega he’s been quite good. This spring he pushed teammate David Ragan to victory lane and finished 2nd. He’s also been a consistent performer. In four out of the last five Talladega races he’s finished in the top fifteen and his worst result over this stretch of races is 22nd. His 12.2 average result over these races ranks as the third best in the series for drivers who competed in all 5 races. (Yahoo C List)

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. – Ricky Stenhouse Jr. has quietly performed well on restrictor plate tracks. This season on this track type he has finishes of 11th, 12th and 13th. His 12.0 plate average finish ranks as the 5th best in the series for drivers who competed in all three races. In May Ricky Stenhouse Jr. had a good race and finished 13th. In the event him and Edwards teamed up to pass Jimmie Johnson right before the rain and in the final seconds before the red flag flew Carl Edwards got around him. If they didn’t go back racing he would’ve finished 2nd. From an allocation standpoint unless you have more Stenhouse Jr. starts then you need you would probably be served better to look elsewhere. (Yahoo C List)
Casey Mears – In May with 52 laps to go Casey Mears had fuel suction problems. That led to him finishing three laps down in 24th. Casey Mears had a good performance at Talladega last fall. Don’t be fooled by his 26th place finish. In the race he led 10 laps and ran as high as third with only a few laps remaining. This team made a fatal mistake late in the race when they decided to pit in which they were subsequently blocked in their pit stall which shuffled them back in the pack. Prior to that race Mears had finishes of 17th and 18th. For the most part Casey has done a good job avoiding trouble at Talladega. His last finish outside the top thirty was in 2007. At Daytona in July Casey Mears finished 9th. (Yahoo C List)
Austin Dillion – At Talladega Austin Dillion will be driving the #14. In the Talladega Camping World RV Sales 500 there’s many better options available that you shouldn’t even contemplate picking him. At Talladega he’s never made a start in the top series. He raced in the Sprint Cup Series at Daytona in February and finished 31st. In the lower series at Talladega earlier this year he finished 10th. (Yahoo C List)
Danica Patrick – Danica Patrick’s best chance for a good finish comes on this track but unfortunately I would rather take Waltrip, Ragan and Gilliland any day of the week before I would pick her. At Talladega in May she avoided the carnage for much of the race until the “Big One” ensued with 6 laps to go. In the race she finished 33rd, had a 16th place average running position and earned the 23rd best driver rating. At Daytona this year she has results of 8th and 14th. (Yahoo C List)
Trevor Bayne – At Talladega this May Bayne completed 22 laps and finished 43rd. What happened is that his engine went south on him early in the event. In his other Talladega races he’s finished 8th, 15th, 21st and 40th. In terms of picking him as a C List option I would look elsewhere. Consider his Daytona win as a fluke and move on. (Yahoo C List)
