Martinsville Goody’s Headache Relief Shot 500 Fantasy NASCAR Mid Pack Predictions
Joey Logano – Martinsville hasn’t been a good track for Joey Logano. He has two top tens but they were both in 2010. Outside of the results that season he has a 19.6 average finish, 19.6 average running position and the 22nd best driver rating. Earlier this season Joey Logano started the race in 4th but finished 23rd. In the race it should be noted that with about 100 laps to go his battery started going south. In the middle segment of the race he ran as high as 7th and I would estimate that his average running position was around 10th. Over the last five Martinsville Races Logano has a 18.6 average finish and a 17.6 average running position. (Yahoo B Driver)

Aric Almirola – Aric Almirola is a quality dark horse sleeper pick for the Goody’s Headache Relief Shot 500. His Martinsville career average finish is 26.2. That looks very discouraging to many and will likely keep the masses away. His fantasy value lies in his recent results since joining RPM. Since being a member of this organization his average finish is 10.7. That ranks as the 5th best in the series over this span of races and the only drivers who have him beat in this stat are Jimmie Johnson, Clint Bowyer, Jeff Gordon and Brad Keselowski. I think we can all agree that’s pretty good company. Last season at this venue he had results of 4th and 8th. Those results aren’t flukes. There the testament to his patient driving style that is required here. Earlier this year at Martinsville he was a mid pack driver. He started in 34th, had a 20th place average running position and finished 20th.

Greg Biffle – Martinsville is the last track I would pick Greg Biffle at. He has a 20.3 average finish and has had a result outside the top twenty 43% percent of the time. Lately though at Martinsville he’s shown improvement. In the last six Martinsville races he’s had a better result each race. His results over this stretch starting in fall 2010 are 33rd, 21st, 15th, 13th, 10th and 9th. Trends matter in fantasy racing but this one is risky in my opinion. His all time best finish here is 7th and I don’t think he could match it. In his 9th place result this spring he started in 22nd, had a 16th place average running position and only ran in the top fifteen in 38.4% percent of the laps completed. It’s also important to note that in one point during a long green flag run he went down a lap. (Yahoo B Driver)
