Yahoo C List Fantasy NASCAR Preview – Martinsville Goody’s Headache Relief Shot 500
Elliott Sadler – Elliott Sadler should be the default pick for Yahoo C List drivers at Martinsville for the Goody’s Headache Relief 500. This is a good team and back in his “glory days” he accumulated some good finishes here. Between 2003 and 2006 he had 3 top tens and 4 top twelve finishes. This is the best equipment he’s driven since then. Recently at Martinsville the MWR organization has performed well. In Vickers last two Martinsville races in the #55 he had a 9.5 average finish and a 2.5 average starting position.

Kyle Larson – At Martinsville Kyle Larson will be making his second career start in the #51 car. Martinsville is a tough track for young drivers and I don’t think this phenom will buck the trend. It should be noted that recently he tested here. That gives him a slight advantage but there’s a huge difference racing here when 42 other cars are on the track. I think the best case and likely scenario would be about a 20th place finish.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. – In April Ricky Stenhouse Jr. made his debut at Martinsville Speedway. It was a pretty forgettable performance. He didn’t hit anything or make anyone mad. What he did do was start in 20th, had a 28th place average running position and finish 25th. From a Yahoo! Fantasy NASCAR perspective this is the last track on the schedule I would use an allocated start on him. Roush Fenway Cars have performed poorly here for a decade and I don’t expect that to change in the Goody’s Headache Relief Shot 500. The only way I would consider picking him is if I had four allocated starts left.
Danica Patrick – In April Danica Patrick shocked the world. In her first race on what was poised to arguably be her toughest track she finished 12th. I know I didn’t see that coming. In the race she started in the back of the field (engine change), spun on lap #16, and got lapped. In the Martinsville Goody’s Headache Relief Shot 500 I don’t think she can repeat her performance. Her 12th place finish certainly wasn’t based on performance. In the race she had a 26th place average running position and only ran 4.2% percent of the laps inside the top fifteen. In the Goody’s Headache Relief Shot 500 I think the best case scenario would be a 20th place finish.
Casey Mears – Given his Yahoo! C List status he’s not a bad fantasy option for the Goody’s Headache Relief Shot 500. In April he started in 41st, had a 22nd place average running position and finished 16th. In the C List tier he ranked 2nd in many of those statistical categories to Danica Patrick. I trust his fantasy value more than her’s when it comes to replicating feats. In his next three most recent Martinsville races he had results of 25th, 25th and 12th. His career average finish is 23rd.
David Ragan – David Ragan’s fantasy value is very limited at Martinsville, but that doesn’t necessarily make him a bad option. Although it’s nothing to get excited about it should be noted that he’s done a good job avoiding really bad finishes here. His average finish is 20.9 and only twice in his fourteen starts has he finished outside the top 30. Unfortunately two of his non top thirty finishes came in the last four races. His last four results are 30th, 26th, 24th and 33rd.
