Martin Truex Jr. ran well early in the race.
Paul Menard ran well and was in the top five early in the race.
Dale Earnhardt Jr., Tony Stewart, Clint Bowyer, Ryan Newman, Brad Keselowski and Kevin Harvick rode near the back early to avoid trouble.
