Phoenix The Profit On CNBC 500 Fantasy NASCAR Front Runner Rankings
Matt Kenseth – Last season on shorter flat tracks Matt Kenseth was a phenomenal performer until the second race at Phoenix. In the first five races on this sub track type he scored the 2nd most points, had the best driver rating by a wide margin, led the most laps, and had a 6.0 average finish. In those first five races he also went to victory lane at New Hampshire. The fall race at Phoenix was a complete debacle for the 20 team. He finished 23rd, had a 19th place average running position and earned the 20th best driver rating. That poor finish can be attributed to him struggling greatly on the track and mistakes on pit road. That performance also took away his championship opportunity. In the spring race at Phoenix in 2013 Kenseth had a solid car. He finished 7th, had a 7th place average running position and earned the 4th best driver rating. His strength was being good over long runs. In the last segment of the race during long green flag runs he had perhaps the fastest car on the track. In 2012 at Phoenix he had results of 13th and 14th. In the inaugural race on the new surface he won the pole and was a serious contender for the win but Brian Vickers wrecked him. (Yahoo A Driver)

Joey Logano – Joey Logano has been a solid driver at Phoenix on the new configuration. Some of his results are misleading but he’s consistently been a top ten threat. Last fall at Phoenix he started in third, led 33 laps, earned the 5th best driver rating and finished 9th. In spring 2013 he finished a misleading 26th. That poor finish can be attributed to running out of gas at the end. In the event he was running right around 11th before he ran out of fumes (Yahoo Race Chart). In fall 2012 at Phoenix he was an innocent victim in the Jeff Gordon / Clint Bowyer wreck. Prior to his involvement in the wreck he was running in 6th. In March 2012 he started in 9th and finished 10th. In the first race on the new surface at Phoenix he finished 11th. (Yahoo B Driver)

Clint Bowyer – Clint Bowyer is one of the most talented drivers on shorter flat tracks. On this sub track type he has four career wins. Unfortunately not one of those have come at Phoenix. Richmond is the most similar track on the schedule and he has been very stout there. Last fall at Richmond he was the leader late in the race until an untimely caution dropped him back in the running order. In the spring Richmond race he led 113 laps and finished 2nd. In fall 2012 at Richmond he drove the 15 car to victory lane. Clint Bowyer is capable of great success at Phoenix but it just hasn’t happened. At Phoenix Bowyer has a 17.1 average finish and has had a result of 20th or worse in 5 of the last 7 races. Last fall at Phoenix Clint Bowyer was mediocre. He finished 20th and had a 13th place average running position. In spring 2013 he finished 6th. In fall 2012 he was likely going to finish around 5th but Jeff Gordon wrecked him. (Yahoo A Driver)
