Yahoo C List Fantasy NASCAR Preview Phoenix The Profit On CNBC 500
Austin Dillon – Austin Dillon has never run on a shorter flat track in the Sprint Cup Series. Because of that it’s important to watch how he fares in the events leading up to the race (qualifying & practice). From a car perspective I expect Dillon to have a good chassis underneath him. Shorter flat tracks have historically been friendly to the RCR organization. In 2013 in the lower series at Phoenix Dillon had results of 6th and 3rd. In 2012 he had results of 4th and 6th. He has dark horse potential but as I said earlier it’s important to see how he fares in the events leading up to the race.

Kyle Larson – Much like Austin Dillon I would play the wait and see game with Kyle Larson at Phoenix. He’s a prodigy and is talented but he lacks seat time. In 2013 in the Nationwide Series he had results of 13th and 32nd (accident). In 2012 in the Truck Series in just his third career start Larson finished 2nd and led 43 laps. Richmond is the most similar track and in the lower series last year he had results of 8th and 14th. Recently the 42 team has been good at Phoenix. With Montoya behind the wheel they’ve finished in the top twelve in the last four races.

Danica Patrick – Danica Patrick’s best race at Phoenix by far was her first performance in 2012. In that race she struggled but at the end she found herself up in 13th but was spun by Jeff Burton. When the checkered flag waved she finished 17th. It’s important to point out in that race she got lapped on lap 94 and had a 26th place average running position. In spring 2013 at Phoenix she was involved in an accident and finished 39th. Last fall in the race she was really bad. She went a lap down in the race by lap #40. When the checkered flag waved she finished 33rd. In 2013 on shorter flat tracks she had a 31.5 average running position, 32.5 average finish and a lowly 43.98 driver rating. That driver rating isn’t far from that of some start and parkers.
Cole Whitt – Cole Whitt has two Sprint Cup starts under his belt at Phoenix. In 2011 when he drove for Red Bull Racing he finished 25th. Last fall at Phoenix he drove the #30 car for his current employer and finished 40th. In the race he qualified 29th and ran between 30th and 34th before he crashed just prior to the mid point. At Phoenix in 2012 in the Nationwide Series he had results of 13th and 29th.
Justin Allgiaer – Last fall at Phoenix Justin Allgaier drove his #51 car. In the race he started 25th, had a 27th place average running position and finished 31st. That is his only Sprint Cup start at Phoenix. In 2013 in the Nationwide Series at Phoenix he had results of 2nd and 3rd.
Parker Kligerman – Parker Kligerman has never raced at Phoenix in a Sprint Cup car. Last season in the Nationwide Series he had results of 12th and 19th. I wouldn’t underestimate his talent this weekend. Last year when he drove for this organization he had results of 18th (Texas) and 25th (Homestead) for the organization. Those finishes of his weren’t at similar tracks but those are pretty good given the equipment he’s in.
